Brightwater currently offers two scholarships that are available to all permanent staff, the Don Hutchison Scholarship and the Peter Lane Scholarship, both are offered annually.
Don Hutchison Scholarship
The Don Hutchison Scholarship was established in 2001 to acknowledge the outstanding commitment to the organisation by Mr Don Hutchison, who served for 25 years on the Board. Mr Hutchison was Chairman of the Board for the last 13 years of his service until his retirement in October 2001. His contribution to Brightwater is celebrated annually through this award.
The purpose of the Don Hutchison Scholarship is to provide a means of financial support to staff members who wish to further their learning in an area which will contribute to the quality of life opportunities for those to whom Brightwater provides a service. The scholarship has a value of up to $5000 that can be used for further learning or for a research
or evaluation project.
The Peter Lane Scholarship
The Peter Lane Scholarship was established in 2008 through a generous donation from the Lane family in memory of their son, Peter. Peter and his family had experienced the devastating impact of acquired neurological disability. The purpose of the Peter Lane Scholarship is to provide a means of financial support to those staff members who wish to further their learning in an area which contributes to the quality of life opportunities for Brightwater clients with a neurological disability. The scholarship has a value of up to $5000 that can be used for further learning or for a research or evaluation project
