Services for Older People

Residential Care

Brightwater offers some of the most modern and progressive care facilities in Australia.

Each site provides a comfortable environment that integrates home-like features with skilled staffing and specialised facilities. This enables residents to feel both comfortable and secure. Friends and families are welcome and have the opportunity to enjoy well-tended gardens or private family rooms where they can have a chat or to share a quiet cup of tea.

Specialist services are provided at a number of sites. These include:

  • Individualised care for older people with high support needs
  • Specialised care for people with dementia
  • Respite services
  • Interim care - assisting people in finding suitable care services

Each Brightwater site has access to a professional support team. This includes Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Podiatrists, General Practitioners, Pharmacists and other specialists as required.

Most sites are also linked with the community and utilise resources such as local libraries to provide a door-to-door service for all library needs such as large print books, talking books and books in languages other than English.

Residents can choose to have their own Doctor provide their medical care or utilise Doctors who visit sites regularly.

Brightwater has a specialised Seating and Postural Care Clinic (Seatec) available to residents on referral. This may include providing customised wheelchairs or cushioning with the aim of maximising comfort, mobility and independence.

Respite Services

Carers and people requiring care all need a rest or a change of scene at some stage. Brightwater Respite Services allows personal carers to take a break confident that the highest level of care is provided in comfortable, home-like surroundings with minimal disruption to daily routines.

Brightwater offers a range of respite options. These services are offered from a number of sites across the metropolitan area. Please contact us for more information on how to access these services.

Interim Care Services

Brightwater's Interim Care Service provides Care Awaiting Placement and a Transition Care Program for older people after their discharge from hospital to enable them to return home, or to await suitable permanent high care or low care accomodation.

The Transition Care Program is a short term low intensity therapy support program to help clients improve function and is provided at the Brightwater Kingsley facility and in the community.

Care Awaiting Placement provides support to clients awaiting permanent residential aged care accomodation and is available at the Brightwater Kingsley and Birralee facilities.
