Services For Younger People

Services for Younger People provides residential, rehabilitation, transitional care and respite accommodation for younger people with acquired neurological disabilities, between the ages of 18 and 65.

Brightwater Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is provided for people with acquired brain injury and issues of cognitive impairment at Brightwater Oats Street and within the broader community.

Brightwater Oats St provides rehabilitation services for young adults who have experienced a moderate to severe brain injury.

This service is goal focused with clients supported in recognising the impact of the disability in their life. Clients are encouraged to develop realistic outcomes and these outcomes are then translated into programs supported by both Allied Health and Support Workers. The programs aim to maximise functional ability achieving a level of independence compatible with the client’s ability.

These services are offered in both Brightwater’s own residential setting at Oats St in East Victoria Park and the individual’s own home.

Brightwater Transitional Care

Brightwater Discovery Way, Marangaroo, provides interim accommodation for young people with complex health conditions and disabilities, who are inpatients in a metropolitan hospital and have no suitable accommodation available.  The facility provides long-term transitional accommodation, assisting individuals to progress to permanent supported accommodation in the community or return home with community services.

Brightwater Residential Accommodation

Brightwater provides a variety of accommodation options within the Perth metropolitan area for young adults living with an Acquired Disability and Huntington’s Disease.  These options have been established to ensure that each individual can be offered housing choices that are in keeping with their support needs. Accommodation ranges from people living alone in their own home through to living with others with similar levels of need in community based group homes.

Brightwater community houses are located in Balcatta, Bentley, Cannington, Manning, Maylands, and Warnbro. Brightwater has two special residential facilities, Ellison House and Kailis House, for people living with Huntington’s disease. Brightwater also has a residential facility for permanent residents with high care needs at Endeavour House, Marangaroo.

Brightwater’s residential services support all clients to maintain and enhance existing abilities, explore new opportunities and develop additional life skills.
